NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 7, 2015) – Councilmember At-large Megan Barry has released the following statement on the search for a new Director of Schools for MNPS:
“I’ve said all along that I think the school board should take as much time as they need to find the best candidate to lead Nashville’s schools. If they need to extend the search period and keep Chris Henson as the interim Director, I’m completely comfortable with that.
“I believe the next director of schools should have proven success in working in an urban school district to improve public schools, as well as the communications skills necessary to bring together parents, teachers, and the school board around a common vision that will promote our public schools.
“If the school board moves forward with the current group of candidates, I’m looking forward to having the chance to meet with them over the coming weeks to hear more about the qualifications they would bring to the job and about their vision for the future of our Metro Nashville Public Schools.”
