NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 17, 2015) – The Tennessee Equality Project Power PAC announced their endorsements in the August 2015 Metro election and has chosen Megan Barry as the right choice for mayor of Nashville.

“I’m proud to receive the support and endorsement of the TEP Power PAC,” said councilmember at-large and candidate for mayor Megan Barry. “TEP has been a strong partner with me on the Metro Council in promoting equality and prohibiting discrimination.”

TEP PAC is the political arm of the Tennessee Equality Project, an organization dedicated to promoting equality and protecting the rights of LGBT Tennesseans across the state.

“I’ve been honored to have the opportunity to partner with Councilmember Barry to pass legislation that ensures all of our citizens are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve,” said Chris Sanders, Executive Director of Tennessee Equality Project. “Megan’s leadership has been integral to passing the non-discrimination ordinance and she has been a true champion for equality in Nashville.”

“Megan has stood on the forefront of equality in Nashville and we know she will be a fantastic ally in the mayor’s office,” said H.G. Stovall, Chair of the TEP Power PAC. “She showed true dedication to equality and leadership when she officiated the first same sex marriages in Davidson County. Thousands of LGBT families call Nashville home and we know Megan work will keep our city a warm and welcoming place for all. ”

The Tennessee Equality Project Power PAC joins a long list of organizations and institutions that have endorsed Megan Barry, which include The Tennessean, Out & About Nashville, the Tennessee Transgender Political Caucus, and Women for Tennessee’s Future.
