Megan Barry calls on Judge Casey Moreland to resign

Metro Councilwoman Megan Barry called on General Sessions Judge Casey Moreland to resign in light of his decision to let a prominent contractor out of jail before a 12-hour “cooling off” period had ended afteran alleged domestic violence incident.

Barry, who is running for mayor next year, said Wednesday she is disturbed by what she read in a letter Police Chief Steve Anderson wrote this week to Bill Higgins, presiding judge of Davidson County General Sessions Court. Anderson said Moreland displayed a “cavalier” attitude during a phone conversation about the incident and implied “that this is just good ole boys doing what good ole boys do and that I should understand.”
