Freeman comments on abortion slammed by opponent

Nashville mayoral candidate Bill Freeman was recently videotaped telling protesters affiliated with an anti-abortion group that he appreciates what they're doing and to "get out there and fight the fight."

That came after he told them he thinks abortion is a "horrible choice for a method of birth control."

Those remarks, made during an exchange with an organization called the Abolitionist Society of Sumner County, have come under fire by one of his mayoral opponents, At-large Councilwoman Megan Barry, who charged that Freeman can't be trusted to stand up for women's reproductive rights. She also called it "demeaning to all women" to say that women terminate pregnancies as a form of birth control.
