country's bans on same-sex marriage Friday, Lisa Howe and her partner rushed to the Davidson County clerk's office.
Howe and Wendy Holleman knew they wanted to be one of the first same-sex couples in Nashville. They have been together for years and have a 4-year-old daughter, who stood between them at city's third legally recognized same-sex marriage.
"There's not a better time for us," Howe said shortly after the ceremony, which was officiated by mayoral candidate and City Councilwoman Megan Barry. "Let's not wait anymore. Let's do it day one."
