Sexism is alive and well in Nashville's race for mayor, candidate Megan Barry said at a forum on women's issues Tuesday.
Barry, addressing a crowd at Lipscomb University during a candidate forum hosted by the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, said she would guess most of the women in the room have at some point in their lives been objectified.
"Just the other day, I was having lunch with somebody in the power structure," Barry recounted. "And after we had a long conversation about some complicated financial tools, he reached across the table. He took my hair and said, 'Oh, I guess you really aren't a dumb blonde.'
